Building Information Building Type: Retail

Description

58 E 161st St // 850 River Avenue
Bronx, NY 10452

Just one block from Yankee Stadium!

In 1936, this building opened opposite the old Yankee Stadium as the Earl Theatre which housed 1,267 seats servicing a single-screen. The original Art-Deco spire and marquee still accentuates the entrance on East 161st Street. This conjoined property occupies over 27,500 square feet of space and is located within one block of new Yankee Stadium.

The building is currently home to Billy’s Sports Bar and Restaurant - the bar and restaurant’s interior has recently undergone major remodeling, creating more space to better accommodate the large crowds that gather inside for Yankee post-game celebrations. The actual theatre area of the building is also currently undergoing major reconstruction. With entrances facing both East 161st Street and River Avenue, this establishment has easy accessibility and double the exposure.

East 161st Street is a major 1.6 mile south Bronx thoroughfare lined with a large collection of attractions and highly-frequented, well-known businesses. Among these are Chase and Apple Bank, both located within 300 feet and adjacent to 58 E 161st Street. The Babe Ruth Plaza, Yankee stadium, McDonalds, Burger King and Subway are all located on E 161st street, across from the property and within one block.

Walking distance from 58 E 161st Street is the Bronx’s ‘Concourse Village.’ Approximately three blocks east on East 161st Street are many of the Bronx’s city, state, and federal buildings, law offices, and civil service centers, as well as the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Montefiore Medical Center. Concourse Village also has a retail plaza (Concourse Plaza) and a movie theater (Concourse Plaza Multiplex). Retailers in the plaza include Foot Locker, Radio Shack, GNC, Payless, Petland Discounts, and CVS.

In addition, the recently erected Gateway Center, which is just south of the property on River Avenue, draws not only the New York City populace, but visitors from all around the globe to the Bronx’s East 161st Street. Yankee-clad taverns, sports outfitter, memorabilia and souvenir shops, cafes/diners, banks, and pizza shops decorate East 161st Street serving Bronx Community 4 residents, a variety of shoppers, and millions of baseball patrons year round.
